Group tours follow a fixed route with 40 strangers and 45 minutes per stop. With a private driver you decide the châteaux, the pace and the lunch spot, you can add a village or a market on the way, and you can taste as much as you like. Drinking and driving is not an option in France — the limit is 0.5 g/L — so a chauffeur is also the safe answer.
Half day (4-5 hours, one appellation): from €280 sedan, €360 van. Full day (8 hours, two appellations): from €450 sedan, €590 van. Prices cover the vehicle, driver, fuel and tolls; château tasting fees (typically €25-€60 per person) are paid directly on site.
Médoc classic: Margaux, Saint-Julien and Pauillac along the D2 Route des Châteaux, lunch by the estuary. Right bank: Saint-Émilion UNESCO village, a Pomerol estate and a monolithic-church visit. Sweet wines: Sauternes and Barsac with a stop at a Graves estate on the way back.
Most estates require an appointment, and the top classified growths book out weeks ahead. Tell us which châteaux you want and we will advise realistic timings, or suggest estates with availability that match your taste and budget. Please book the appointments directly with the estates; we then plan the driving around your times.
