The TER train from Bordeaux Saint-Jean takes about 55 minutes to Arcachon station and is inexpensive, but it is crowded in summer, awkward with luggage or surfboards, and it stops in the town centre — not at the Dune du Pilat, Pyla villas or Cap Ferret. A private transfer runs door to door in roughly one hour, on your schedule, and handles the luggage.

The Dune du Pilat is Europe's tallest sand dune, 110 metres above the Atlantic, and reaching the summit takes about 20 minutes on the staircase. We can drop you at the car park and return at an agreed time, or keep the vehicle at your disposal for a half day so you can add Cap Ferret, the oyster ports of Gujan-Mestras or a beach at Le Moulleau.
From mid-July to late August the A660 into Arcachon slows to a crawl between 10 AM and noon, and again from 6 PM. Leaving Bordeaux before 9 AM or after 2 PM saves 30 to 45 minutes. Our drivers know the alternative roads through La Teste when the motorway is blocked.
